Ok so I'm always back and forth on the whole having a kid thing.... But I think this just sealed the deal for me. Except mine is gonna wear crazy pastel surf rock colors and dope ass sunglasses. and he'll have a way radder guitar like maybe a strat or an epiphone, and we'll be in a father son (or daughter) band called "Dad Zeplin" and we'll totally shred. It'll be great!.... Oh yeah shout out to my hommie Hume over at Only Us Explorers for sending me this video.

Sheesh..... Apparently I have to quit my day job cause Tin Can keeps booking super bad ass shows like every fucking day. So earlier this month I was freaking my bean about the new Young Prisms album and how it leaked and how it's the best and blah blah blog. Anywho the leak can be found here and you can see these kids melt your faces off at the tin can on March 12th. Oh yeah and Paper Cuts will be there too..... So yeah it's gonna be a pretty fuckin rad show.
Young Prisms "If you Want to"
So, a little birdie told me that Truman Peyote will be playing tin can on March 7th. That same little birdie informed me that all future, San Diego, FMLY events will be held at tin can. So let's show up and knock the walls off that place, cause if FMLY comes to your home you welcome them with open arms. below are a couple Truman P. jams to get you kids all hyped on the show. See you at tin can SD.

Daaaaaaamn!!!! I just got the date for the Salem show at Soda Bar, so all you kids better clear your schedules for March 28th cause this show's gonna be titties. The openers are gonna be dope on a rope too. We got Ale Mania and Raw Moans bringing some heat. Not to mention my hommie DJ C. Wizard is gonna be there spinnin the goods! Pre-sale tickets are 8 beans and it's 10 bones at the door. Click here to get your tickets on lock-down and save a lil cheddar. Below is one of my favorite Salem jams "Skullcrush". See you kids at Soda Bar!
I'm definitely looking forward to this upcoming TV on the Radio album, and this new track is a very validating factor for my excitement. It seems to me that these guys aren't planning on ever going the normal rout of things. This track is just as weird and alluring as anything from their last album dear science. Enjoy!
TV on the Radio - Will Do by 1077 The End
So I'm pretty excited about this! Rob from New Mexico released a digital 7" of his bedroom recordings that strike somewhere between Deerhunter and Brian Jonestown Massacre. Below are the three tracks, I got to play chiranga on the last one which was pretty fun. The tracks are free so download that shit and tell all your friends cause the shit is pretty rad

I just caught wind of this little ditty and it's on a solid repeat at the moment. Campfires is a new band signed to Small Plates, IGIF's and yvynyl newish record label and they've been doing a killer job at finding fresh talent. Check out this jam it's pretty great. I envision a huge bonfire with jugs of booze, tall pine trees, and lots of hugging and kissing going on.

Damn Marnie, why don't we get married already? There's nothing hotter than a finger tapping blond bombshell who shreds harder than an industrial sized blender. Seriously though, last night was dope and here's a lil footy from the happenings that went down at Soda Bar. Oh yeah, and speaking of Soda Bar, my hommie Cory just informed me that he booked the Beach Fossils there for May 5th!!! I know that's a long ways away, but you guys know I got like ten boners for those kids. OK enough Blabbering here's the footage, enjoy.

I've been praying to the gods of irony for quite some time that they would mold a white version of R. Kelly with curly hair and glasses, who isn't all that into peeing on young girls. Well guess what, they have heard my cries and responded with Tom Krell. His amazing falsetto high notes and nerdy thuggish nature make beautiful songs like this one possible.

So the other night, Valentines day to be exact, Roxy Jones played their first show in forever and it was fucking great! I shot some footage while I was there. The first video is of a new, untitled, song that's kind of the best. There's a recurring line that goes, "I've been followin' you around" that I love, it's super creepy and awesome. Not to mention, there's a pretty heavy guitar solo at the end of the song that's pretty dope. The second video is a Roxy Jones spin on The Beatles "Eight Days a Week", I love it and I'm pretty sure you will too. Enjoy!
Holy shit, god damn!!! I can't even believe how fucking crazy this shit is. This is by far the best debut live appearance I've ever seen in my whole fucking life, that includes all genres of music, not just hip-hop. At first glance I was like, "great is this a new ICP cover band?" But then like six seconds into the video I was loosing my shit. First off, if you're gonna have a late night show be your first TV performance then Jimmy is the place to be. I mean the masks, the fog machines, all that shit is dope but god damn-it wait till the 2:15 marker when hommie rips off his mask and starts going nutty on stage. Prolly one of the most hilarious things is how freaked out that pasty red-head gets when the mic gets shoved in her face, but it's not nearly as comedy as when Mos Def starts screaming like a seven year old catholic school girl with a skinned knee straight into the camera after the performance...... I mean fuck, how dope can these kids be to have Mos Def going crazy like that?!?!?!?! It's Mos Def!!! He's like 1/2 of blackstar! Whatever just watch the fucking video, and more than once, cause it's worth it!!!!!
Oh yeah I almost forgot, thanks to Tommy B. for showing me this shit and thanks to Corey Casey for showing Tommy B. Check out their blogs too, by clicking here and here, cause they're kinda hella dope!

Oh great now I'm gonna have this song stuck in my head for like a week. Seriously though, the constant guitar lick that hovers throughout the majority of this song is pretty awesome. Not to mention home-girls voice is like ten times sexier than the chick that picks up on the other end of any 900 number. Oh yeah, and did I mention that their album is called Headbangers in Ecstasy? That's prolly the most hilarious album name I've ever heard.

Hahaha look at these assholes. I can't believe that this bad ass band even exists. It's like all these kids asked to be frozen in the 70's and not brought back until weed was halfway legalized in California. Seriously this band is proof that somebody has invented a fucking time machine, way to go guys wrong decade but right sound. The Stepkids fucking rule!!!!!!!

So today I revisited my all time favorite girl band, and prolly favorite band ever, Electrelane and decided to sift through there catalog to make you kids a mix-tape. I feel like this band was so prolific and important that everyone should hear them. between the four of them they speak something crazy like 13 different languages and they all shred and, I don't know, you guys just gotta hear these girls. I picked my favorite tracks and even included this really awesome Bruce Springsteen cover of "I'm on Fire" that they did. They may not be a band anymore but they're more relevant now than ever. Click here to Download. Enjoy!! PS I put one of the tracks (in video form) below so you can preview it.

Finally there is some dope ass footage to go along with what i think to be one of the best tracks to come out last year. Check out this great performance of Yellow Ostrich's "Whale" at pianos.

A this moving picture favorite, Tape deck Mountain, just released a new video today for their song "It goes down". Hopefully you're not on acid when you start watching this video cause you will be when you're finished. The video has a very awesome washed out and stroby feel to it. It's great. enjoy!

Hey kids I'm so freaking excited right now I can barley type..... OK, so the Beach Fossils EP wasn't supposed to drop until the 22nd but that shit leaked this morning and it's in the world now. Click here to get that shit into your life as soon as possible. This is for sure the best band that came out of last year so I can't wait to give this a full spin. Below is a track off the new shizz in case you don't want to take my word for it. OK I had to tell you guys but I gotta go now cause I gotta listen to the rest of this thing.

So yesterday my buddy Cory posted a link to download the new starfucker album. To be honest, it's crazy great, I love it a ton. Below is a new track that I think is the cat's meow. click here to download the whole album (if you don't there is something definitely wrong with you).

So I totally slept on this one, it came out a few weeks ago and I kept forgetting to post it. Anywhoo, check out how rad this is, Panda Bear made a track specifically for Atiba Jefferson to use in this video. By the way, Atiba's cinematography is crazy amazing in this video and the song marries itself into the footage quite nicely.
The Young Prisms album just leaked and I can't find myself to get past the second track cause it's so effing good. Give it a spin and then click here to download their new album "Friends for now".

Hey kids let's get nutty, it's the super bowl. The time of year where I look like a complete ass hole cause I don't know why that one guy keeps wrestling that other guy for that brown oval thing. But who gives a shit, let's party!!! See you kids at the Bluefoot!

I feel like if there were a teen bop magazine for all the little hip kids of the world, that this disgustingly cute married duo would be on the cover of like every issue for the next year. I found myself cooing, like a teen girl watching the notebook for the first time, when they were kissing on stage during their setup... So this is some footage of a new, and obviously impressive, song that isn't on their album. They played it tonight at the tin can. Congrats to Kelsey for booking such a feel good, sell out show! Also, a side note, just so you SD kids have the heads up, The Babies will be playing tin can on the 17th of this month. Below the footage is a Babies track that'll have you sayin, "Did the Black lips get better?.... oh wait, I guess it's The Babies, hmmm maybe I'll go peep that show on the 17th." Seriously though, come out for that show it's gonna be a good one!

Ok so get a load of this shit. Apparently the Cat daddy is the fuckin moves to be splittin' on the dance floor. To be Honest, with lines like, "Call me sponge-bob, I'm stackin crabby patties" and "I'm in my prime, BBQ rib, and it smells like pubes all around my dick" I really can't think of a better song that anyone should be listening to right now. Watch out for hommie in the sleevless mickey mouse shirt he's prolly the dopest dude in venice beach.
So last night I finally caught Chairs Missing play at the Soda Bar and I kinda had no idea what to expect. I definitely didn't anticipate having a new favorite band. This is for sure some of the best music coming out of San Diego right now. I highly suggest doing whatever it takes to go watch these kids get down, there's no way that you wont be dancing your ass off. Peep their video for "So you know" it's pretty great too. Oh yeah and download their EP for free by clicking here, cause apparently they just give gold away for free these days. Enjoy!

So this song has been on a constant repeat for me for the last couple weeks. The bass line alone could have me toe-tapping in my sleep. I just discovered this awesome DIY video that they threw together. It's mostly hommie doing some pretty comedy dance steps in a sweet collared shirt, red cardigan combo. There is this weird section of the video where he starts having a fucking love affair with this grapefruit. It's like "OK dude, we get it, you reeeeeaaaaaaallllllyyyy like citrus"

I haven't been this proud to be from sac-town since Hella became a word, and then of course a bad ass math-rock band. Sister Crayon released their video, I think today????, for their amazing song "I'm still the same person" and the video's eerie, creepy beauty is exactly what this song needed. Big ups Sac-ra-tomato stayin on the map!
So my hommie and band mate Nick (Adept), dropped this little tune into my inbox this morning. This beat is a force to be reckoned with. There's a grip of layers going on in this jam. Press that play button and watch everything move in slow motion.

OK so I never thought that I'd be able to say this but this moving picture is the first place where you get to see the new Iron and wine video.... Sure it's because my best friend Jennifer Daley stars in it with her boy friend Ben Hasko but let's just pretend it's because I'm really badass. Heads up for a boob shot at the 1:45 mark hahaha (sawy Jen)
So, today my buddy Nick and I released our first EP under the band name BRUIN. The EP is called "Seasons of us" and it's free on band camp, just click here to download it. If you like it, please share it with everyone you know and if you don't like it, please share it with everyone you know. Below is a short description of the album and a player so you can preview the tracks.
- "This EP is Based on a fictional love relationship that starts in spring and ends in winter. Each season represents a stage or turning point within the relationship, Spring being the highlight and most love saturated scenario and Winter being the most monotonous breaking point within the relationship."
