I'm kind of in love with this whole movement of one person acts. I feel like with loop stations and vocal layering, people get to express what they truly want without pissing off a shit load of band members who just aren't on the same page. Grimes is the perfect example of this. Not only is she as cute as two buttons on peter rabbits winter coat, but her energy could get any crotchety old grouch to do the mash potatoes in no time.
OK I know that this is two posts in a row for these kids but honestly if you don't dig this shit you should prolly go to the doctor and get your head checked cause you're just not listening right. I wish that every song I made came out like this. There's so much tension doubled in with buttery smooth melody. Not to mention the vocals that slide all around those flute hits rock my fucking world. Seriously Gardens and Villa whatever you guys are doing it's totally working!
There's something so dark and fun and scary that sits in this kids eyes. When I saw that Yours Truly got a hold of Tyler for an interview I kinda couldn't believe it. Tyler's hyper active depression linked with his out of control sense of humor puts the listener in some sort of rage cage where they are forced to fend for themselves in an audible death match. The fact that they got him to sit still for more than 30 seconds is pretty surprising. And the very genuine and genius shit that comes out of this kids mouth is even more impressive. "Got all the black bitches mad cause main bitch vanilla she tryin to get her groove back like Stella"
Today Yours Truly released one of their latest video sessions that they shot with, Hooray for Earth. It starts out with a lil bit of a tech-hippie vibe and outta nowhere, I'd say right after the 1:13 mark, it starts to become this all encompassing sound that is similar to that of a tribal chant. Put on your face-paint and light your fires kids cause this jams gonna have you askin Chief Katonka for one more hit off the peace pipe. "Hi-how-are-ya, Hi-how-are-ya"
Earlier today Yours Truly released a new video session that they shot with Twin Shadow back in October. Soak in the synthy goodness of this jam. Home girl is straight murdering it on the double keyboard and is pretty much a one way ticket to boner-city. Not to mention hommies killer 80's Guitar Solo that finishes the whole thing off makes me feel like I'm Tom Cruise in Top Gun pullin off some dope ass Maverick air maneuvers.
I have no idea how this video snuck past me. I am completely in love with Holly Miranda's voice and "I'd rather Go Blind" is my all time favorite Etta James song. Not to mention Yours Truly is the best thing to ever happen to intimate live performances . Anywhoo press play and get some goose bumps and then go run around in the rain.

OK let's get this thing rollin. First up is The Fan Video for LCD Soundsystem's, "Home". There are multiple reasons that this video reached the top Ten for me. I love Robots, I love to party, and I love love love this song. This jam pretty much got me through the entire year. So when I first heard the track Bombay by El Guincho my legs started moving on their own and before I knew it I was 35 margaritas deep in my boxers fist pumping my life into oblivion. Now seriously, watch this video, it's full of nothing but awesomeness and more boobies than you could shake a stick at. So I'm pretty sure that this song came out at the very beginning of this year if it was earlier than I apologize. The kids over at Yours Truly constantly blow me away and have a very unique filming style that makes you feel like a band is sitting in your lap preforming their hearts out, only for you. That being said this video is that feeling times infinity. I remember watching this and being floored at how beautiful it can be when a large group of people come together to create something. There's no way that Spike Jonze directed a video and wasn't gonna be on this list. He's directed every amazing skate video and music video and this video is no exception. There is such an amazing feeling that happens when your young that seems to surface less and less once life sets in. I feel that this video blares out like a visual siren all the silly, scary, happy, and angry things that come along with being a child trying to fit into the next stages of your life. One of the craziest videos I've seen all year was this kids final project for his illustration course. this very lucid and stream of consciousness style of illustrating reminds me of the scene in dumbo when he starts hallucinating pink elephants everywhere. OK so Anthony Fransisco Schepperd has gotta be one of the most talented animators of our time. This video makes me rethink my existence in the world. His themed use of technology infecting nature is off the charts. His color scheme perfect. All in all this guys is a mother fucking genius and this song is crazy dope as well. Before the official video for Cee Lo's "Fuck You" came out there was this. Personally I much prefer this version . There is something particularly hilarious about the font and color choices. Plus I really like having every single word of this song being shoved in your face cause I've definitely been in this type of "Fuck You" situation and this is exactly how it goes down. I know that Yours Truly has appeared twice on this list but for good reason. The kids are amazing. this video in particular captures how nuts it is to have a solo project and play all of the instruments. Plus I really like this version of the song it kind of strips away all of the dance-y-ness and gives this amazing surf vibe that makes me wanna mac hella face in the sunshine.
