Kate Tempest " End Days" & Alfred Howard "America"
Earlier today one of my best friends, the lovely Jennifer Daley, sent me this spoken word of Kate Tempest's. The track is entitled "End times." It's been a while since I've heard a spoken word that really tugs on my soul, where I feel like something is shifting in my thoughts, for the better, just from hearing it. The last time I remember being this contemplative by the power of voice was Al Howard's track "America" that was released during the Bush presidency days. Below are both tracks enjoy.

Sleigh Bells-Rill Rill (Video)
Is it just me or is Alexis Krauss worth her wait in boners? The chick is pretty fly and I mean shit she's so gangster on this track as it is, and now that it's coupled with this dope ass desert video shit is gettin a lil outta hand. She's a little too bad-ass for her own good though. I mean she totally tosses homeboy out of her swift ass ride like he's the last stop on her paper route, and if that shit ain't enough she strait tosses his ax out the driver's side window like it's a huge ass cigarette butt.

Dirty Gold (Video)
Last night was the Debut show for TV Girl and it couldn't have been more fun. Good luck not dancing to those dope ass beats. Jamuel Saxxon headlined and just flat out murdered it, it was fuckin rad. But, in the Atari Lounge were these little babies from Encinitas. I'm pretty sure that they're all still in high school and once the lead singers balls drop he's not gonna be able to sing such amazing falsetto anymore. I highly suggest catching these kids live before nature takes it's course on homeboy's junk. Below is their video for California Sunrise. Enjoy!

Dustin Wong (Infinite Love - Brother Pt VIII)
So Ponytail is no longer a band anymore which is a huge bummer. But there is good news to be had. Dustin Wong, is still hard at work and seems to be taking on the funner less abrasive side of math rock and guiding us on a very mysticle journey with jams like this one. Keep in mind that this is only a 2 and a 1/2 minute sample of a 40 MINUTE SONG!!!! DOUBLE-YOU-TEA-EFF this guy is amazing. Pick up his two track full length album called Infinite love then grab some mushrooms and and ipod and walk around your neighborhood for 80 minutes I'm pretty sure something crazy will happen.
The Tree Ring (Wore it deep) VIDEO
San Diego's The Tree Ring has a new live performance video and it's amazing, I love it. It reminds me of a very creative version of something that the Yours Truly guys would do. Deston Cretton directs this video with a very trained eye and creative brain. Wait for the paper snow it's the best ever.

Smith Western (Only one)
Dude these guys are crazy, the oldest kid in the band is 20 years old and they're pumping out the heat right now. Their new album, Dye it Blond, just came out today and i bought it and I'm in love with what these guys are doing. These kids look like they know how to fuckin party too. Below is the song, Only one, the recurring guitar lick is one of the best things I've heard in a while. Pick up their album here it's totally worth it.

Jamuel Saxon (Why are you so beautiful?)
My hommie Keith from Jamuel Saxon Dropped this little video on me last night. This jam is the joint. Peep the stop motion work it's pretty great. I especially enjoy the fist rocking cat that gets eaten up by the tiger record. PS the visuals don't start until after the 14 second mark so be patient sheesh.

Throwback: Timmy Thomas (why can't we live together)
So the other night I was at Tin Can watching Vegetarian Werewolf do this awesome one man cassette tape, keyboard, David Bowie thing, which was the dopeness and everyone should go to his next show. But this post isn't about that, this post is about the DJ, DJ Luxury Death Machine. I mean seriously kids this guy was spinning the heat all night, not to mention like half his set was on 7" so that boy was on his toes...... So I'm at the bar just sippin on my like third olympia, having a ball, and all of a sudden this little tune starts drifting through the air. This song could get any douchbag, meat-head, goth kid, nerd, we're talkin any guy in the whole world, laid. This song was made for banging. Anywho click that little play button down there and buy your one way ticket to fuck city cause this jam slays the clam. Enjoy!.... Oh yeah I almost forgot go check out my friend Larissa's blog Mr. Shuffleupagus it's the best ever!

Hooray for earth (Rolling/Nectarine)
Today Yours Truly released one of their latest video sessions that they shot with, Hooray for Earth. It starts out with a lil bit of a tech-hippie vibe and outta nowhere, I'd say right after the 1:13 mark, it starts to become this all encompassing sound that is similar to that of a tribal chant. Put on your face-paint and light your fires kids cause this jams gonna have you askin Chief Katonka for one more hit off the peace pipe. "Hi-how-are-ya, Hi-how-are-ya"

Ducktails (Killin the vibe)
Wow this new Ducktails track has been penetrating my subconscious all morning. I feel like if Jeff Spicoli went on a spiritual vision quest that this would be his mantra. Plus the guitar track that resonates throughout is making me wish my wetsuit wasn't ripped in half cause it's jams like these that get me all pumped to charge some barrels!

Pepper Rabit (Harvest Moon)
These guys ring out a semi reminiscent sound similar to that of Delta Spirit, which can only mean good. This video is pretty fun. Directors Alex Disenhof and David Altobell take us through a museum of moving pictures, which I'm always a lil partial too. Not to mention that this song "Harvest Moon" is the bees knees. Enjoy!

Devendra Banhart (Sk8boarding?)
Devendra is somewhere beyond inspiring, in his early interviews he would always talk about how bummed he was cause people expected him to show up to his shows and play, instead of roaming through the forest on mushrooms. Later he went on to live on a fatty plot of land with a pack of wolves, (one of those wolves was featured with a howling track on the jam "Hey Mama Wolf"). Then he went through a short stint where he dated Natalie Portman. I mean fuck bro, as far as life is concerned you're kinda killing it. And just the other day my buddy Tommy B. showed me this footage of him slaying it on a sk8board. That was the nail in the coffin for me. If this dude was around when I was 15 my hair would be down to my ass and I'd be tripping balls, with Devendra posters all over my room. the Footage and my favorite track off his last album are below. Enjoy

Foster the people
So today was definitely one of those days where it seemed like the whole world was trying to fuck with me. I've been eating nothing but rabbit food for the last four days, I got a parking ticket for parking at my own G.D. house, and I got stuck at work for an extra hour and a half cause some shitty business dudes thought that it'd be a brilliant fucking idea to have a work meeting in my restaurant, even though they had been the last table served for over an hour. But, I must say, that when my good friend Peter Graves shot me a text saying that Foster the People were playing the Soda Bar tonight all my rage and self pity, faded away. I got some super shotty footage of these dudes having a blast on stage plus there's an MP3 of the song down there if you wanna download the studio version. Enjoy!

Jogger (Nephicide)
OK seriously, is this video me in Jr. High? I'm so pumped on this song and video right now for a whole slew of reasons. First off I love how realistic it portrays being a 13 year old faggy goth kid (wake up you little ass hole the worlds not that bad). And secondly Jonathan from uhh yeah dude is in this band (he's the long hair) and he's comedy!! Seriously this video and song are the goods. Spoiler Alert: Kid ralphing hella blood on some skate rat is beyond metal!

Yellow Ostrich (Beach House cover)
Today Alex Schaaef's solo project, Yellow Ostrich, released a few covers but my favorite track has to be his version of Beach House's, Zebra. It's so subtle and simple but also easier to put on a rainy day Mix-Tape than the original. I've had this thing on repeat, trying to play along on my Keyboard for like the last hour, I love this version. I posted the Original as well, which if you haven't heard it, what are you waiting for it's amazing. Enjoy

Tennis (album leak)
Ok I know that I just said that the Tennis album comes out in like two weeks. But I'll be damned if that shit didn't leak. I couldn't wait so I snagged it and I'm about to light a fucking beach bonfire in my living room and run around in board-shorts whistling at hotties out my window like a mental patient. Grab the album by clicking here but don't be a dick, buy the vinyl when that shit comes out in 2 weeks. Here's another jam in case you still need to be convinced that you need this sound in your ears.

Pete and the Pirates (Winter 1)
Here's a lil sneak peak of Pete and the Pirates new up and coming album, which should be released in May of this year. It's a pretty mellow keyboard heavy, and a lil bit stony, Jam. It definitely makes me curious to see what else is gonna be on the album. Enjoy.

Tennis (seafarer)
There's a two week countdown till the nautical-married-cutie-pie-duo that is Tennis releases their full length album, Cape Dory, on Fat Possum records and this little teaser tickles me pink. Patrick Riley's clean crisp guitar riffs give off the clearest images of ten foot barreled-out waves and cloudless sky's and Alaina Moore's voice lets off a very surreal and intoxicating vibe that makes you wanna quit your job and just believe that the world is such a beautiful and caring place that all you have to do is smile and hug strangers all day.

Twin Shadow (Shooting Holes)
Earlier today Yours Truly released a new video session that they shot with Twin Shadow back in October. Soak in the synthy goodness of this jam. Home girl is straight murdering it on the double keyboard and is pretty much a one way ticket to boner-city. Not to mention hommies killer 80's Guitar Solo that finishes the whole thing off makes me feel like I'm Tom Cruise in Top Gun pullin off some dope ass Maverick air maneuvers.

Throwback (Animal Collective - Fireworks)
So this is an older song but I've been listening to it all day. I remember that there was a time where this song was the only thing I would listen too and mash my bike all over San Diego. I particularly enjoy how they sample bird and duck noises in the background... "I'm only all I see sometimes!!"
