Beat Connection

A few days back electro surf pop band, Beat Connection, gave away their debut EP, Surf Noir, which can be found here. It's pretty bitchen for a first release. The track Sunburn shines a little brighter to me than the rest I can't seem to stop listening to it. Right from the get-go a heavy rhythmic guitar hits almost commanding your heels to tap. Followed by a rad lick that seems to repeat throughout. It's a song that makes you wanna leave your house and go outside. GO OUTSIDE

Family Trees

So today IGIF posted a drifty new track from Family Trees called Dream talkin. A shorter song that seems to take on a new sped-up stylistic feel on the old Santo & Johnny hit Sleep walk. So instantly I downloaded the other 2 songs that they had available and found that the song Baby come back
was sounding like some goodness I'd recently come across. After a short searching stint I realized that the new Wavves song When will you come has the same tonal structure and eerily enough, it also features a similar echoing type background howling at the same 51 second mark of the track. I can't wait for these guy's to put out a full length. Something surfy's in the air and I'm reaping all the benefits!

Dirty Roots

I'm a lil late to the game when it comes to listening to the new Roots album How I got over. Whilst givin it a solid spin it was brought to my attention that the trio of hotties from Dirty Projectors sing harmonies on the track A peace of light which is a solid intro to the next track Radio Daze. A track where ?uestlove's jazzy drum beats shine. I was a little weary of the whole jump that they made to being the back up band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. I thought it might affect their street cred. I never thought about how it would benefit them in having amazing collaborations. This album is chuck full of team-ups from Monsters of folk to Joanna Newsome, to John Legend. It just goes to show that even a group as amazing and timeless as The Roots can still do awesome new things.

Summer holiday

So I've been rockin this video on the large for the last week or so. Wild nothing is pumping out those sunshine vibes with awesome high end guitar licks that aren't too fancy and have the perfect feel for skateboarding, pounding beers and mackin face with hotties. Summer Holiday is over flowing with heartache (the good kind). This jam's most definitely gonna be on my 4th of July bangin BBQ mix.

got me in stitches

A while back The morning benders teamed up with the echo chamber orchestra to record the song excuses to get that larger than life sound. The folks from yours truly edited some footage from it to make an all in all pretty great visual and audio experience. Apparently they shot more than just that song cause a few days back they released a video for the song "Stitches" though a slower more down tempo song, the effect of the large band is not lost and benifits the song especially during the howling portions of the track.

Dirty Projectors and Björk Team up

Last year Björk and Dirty Projectors Played a small benefit show in a New york bookstore in which they collaborated a set of songs that DP front man David Longstreth wrote based on a trip to Mount Wittenberg that DP vocalist/guitarist Amber Coffman had just gone on in which she had seen a family of whales. Finally after a year of crazy tour dates the two were able to team up to record Mount Wittenberg Orca seven songs filled with harmonizing and constant timing change-ups and last night it was released for download. All the proceeds are donated to the National Geographic Society to help protect our oceans, which at a time like this is more than necessary. Anyways here's a track called When the world comes to an end that should speak for itself.
Also here's a clip from that small intimate show that was played last year in New York
